Since living in OZ, I have been interested in hog hunting.

They are classed as verin there.  cause a lot of damage to farmed crops and most Cockies (farmers) welcome someone to help to cull them from their fields.

Hogs are not native to OZ, but are the result of farm pigs escaping and going feral.  Research has shown that after seven generations, the end result is a "boar" type animal that is pure hog!!!

Most hunting is done with either rifle or shotie.  The big ones take some large bore firearm to put them done.  I used a Winy 1886 in 45/70 and a Remy 870 12ga.

There is another form of hog hunting that is only for those very keen.  It is hunting by foot using dogs and dispatching the pig with a knife.  Only for the foolish!!!! Thinking

Have you tried doing your hunting with a crossbow? Ive heard you can do some good hunting with a crossbow. I just started using one and it really takes hunting to another level

I haven't done any hog hunting, but I did spend quite a bit of time in Texas and I can tell you they are a real problem there. From what I understand, they are running rampant through a large part of the deep south. They're very dangerous and destructive and they need to be controlled at all costs.
