Guys,
I am a new member and thought I would share some info on Sambar deer in Australia as its our major game animal. Sambar were imported from Indai and Celon around 130yrs ago and now inhabit much of Southern Australia. they are large animals with thick skin, we use 30/06 and above for them and paid a game licenece fee of about $40 a year to hunt them, there is no bag limit and we hunt all year round, summer is a little hot so we tend to hunt the winter. I have attached a photo of a hind I shot with my son a couple of weeks ago. The sags grow large thick antlers with a 30"long head considered a good trophy
